Twelve Lessons Lighter is something totally different

It’s a 12 x week program that helps you to take a deep dive into the psychology of slimming, the worthiness of weight loss and healing for happiness. Created by Kate Spencer & Emma Thom – two sisters who have been on their own weight loss journey and found that:

  • When you feel better about yourself, you naturally want to look after yourself more.
  • When your self-confidence returns, you make healthier decisions.
  • When you see your value, you raise your standards.

You see, diets don’t work and it’s not your fault.

Between us, we’d tried a raft of different ones, from Atkins to Cabbage Soup.
Even if there was an initial weight loss, it was unsustainable.
And with every failure, we felt more shame, more guilt and more of a letdown.
No one judges you more harshly than you judge yourself, and as our self-worth eroded, we turned to food to medicate. This became an emotional cycle fueled by fat, carbs and self-sabotage, only ever making us feel worse.

February 2024 marked a turning point for us both.
Through a series of events, life brought health and happiness into sharp focus, and we had to admit that we weren’t looking after ourselves.

The extra weight we were carrying and lifestyle choices that we were making were stealing our self-worth, energy and wellbeing. If we didn’t change, we knew in truth that we were going to be limiting our quality of life, mental health, happiness, opportunities and self-esteem hugely.

More Than Just Accountability

We joined a slimming club for accountability, but we knew we had to go deeper.
We’d chalked up failure after failure, feeling more and more shame and losing more and more self-belief.

The shift we needed was about unworthiness and weight, the shame and pain that we carried, the fear of people judging us and even worse, the fear of failure.

We learned about the psychology of weight loss, installing new habits, re-programming your subconscious mind, avoiding triggers, self-care for slimming, image and identity and so much more.

And this marked the beginning of our success.

Between us we lost 11 and a half stone – that’s 161 pounds.
It took us 6 x months.
(Side note – we didn’t take any time off work or family to achieve this.)

There is NO WAY we would have been able to achieve this without doing the inner work.

And we’ve bundled up everything we learned to help lovely people just like you, like us.

The new habits we installed means we are still exercising several times a week and making good food choices, this gives us a sense of congruence and pride in looking after ourselves at last. The sustained weight loss is a side effect of the behavioral changes we made, based on the healing and inner work we did.

You might be wondering why we called this program Twelve Lessons Lighter?

For those of you that have read Twelve Lessons, you’ll know that Stephanie struggles with her weight because of worthiness issues, and you’ll also know that lesson one is Be Open to Possibility – both seemed fitting to this program and when we scoped out the content there were twelve clear topics, so we took that as a sign!

And lighter?

We know that once you can bring your shadow aspects to the light and heal, you’ll feel emotionally, psychologically and spiritually lighter, you’ll raise your vibration higher and you’ll let go of what’s weighing you down – literally.
