Just like the rest of us my attention has turned to health recently.
I’m being more mindful of what I eat, I’ve started some exercise again after I unfortunately hurt my back in January and couldn’t go to the gym for some time. Then lockdown happened and the rest you know because you are living it too.
I’m power walking and jogging each morning and building back up to where I was because I want to feel like I have more energy and I want to know that I am healthier.

Initially this was for my daughter, because I knew that she needed me to be well emotionally and physically.
It’s still for her of course, but now its also self preservation.
I want to know that should I ever get sick, that I’ve got the best chance possible of recovering as fast as I can.
I’m not going to scaremonger here – but this is the PERFECT time to be making sure that your immune system is in the best shape possible, I’m sure you’d agree.

So that said, I started to research stuff that I could bring into the mix that might have a positive effect.

And I rediscovered Grounding.

I say rediscovered, because I’ve always been aware of it being good for you, but I have never taken a really deep dive into why. Once I started to look at research and testimonials I was blown away!

Grounding or Earthing is a free and reliable way to shore up good health and improve energy and sleep.

It helps us to neutralise free radicals which cause cellular damage and it can release inflammation, stress and fatigue symptoms.
Inflammation was the word that jumped out at me, because its linked to nearly all chronic and degenerative diseases.
Reducing inflammation means reducing symptoms such as pain, and also the progress of a disease or illness can be slowed down.
Hormones start to regulate when you are grounded, and this has an effect on every process in your body.
Cortisol levels normalise so we have less stress response, and there is also some evidence and testimonials that grounding can reduce the symptoms of colds and flu and respiratory issues.

When you are connected to the earths energy current, you receive electrons that pass into your own energy system and your physical being. These electrons neutralize free radicals so they no longer seek to steal electrons from healthy cells causing damage to body systems, they also facilitate blood flow in the body and therefore we remove waste faster and organs and systems are more oxygenated. This means improved immune function, which is always important – but right now is VERY important.

In recent years there has been an increase in degenerative diseases, and an increase in us staying indoors and wearing shoes with rubber soles that insulate us from the earth – coincidence?
I know that there will be many, many other factors to consider, but still its worth thinking about.

So how do you do it?
It’s as simple as you think – you make contact with the earth with your skin.
The most common way is to walk bare foot, but you can also use plants and rocks as conductors as long as they are in contact with the ground. Touching the leaf on a plant will ground you and the tip of your toe touching a rock that is lying on the earth.

It’s so easy and accessible and its free.

From the research I have done, any grounding is beneficial.
Even just a few seconds can make an instant change in reducing blood pressure and elevating mood.
15 – 20 minutes per day and you’ll start to see bigger changes in things like your sleep, your mood may well elevate, you could have more energy and pain and discomfort can be reduced.

Sleeping grounded can yield even more amazing results, which is no surprise as sleep state is when our body rebuilds, heals and repairs itself – I have recently bought a grounding sheet for my bed and although its early I am starting to feel generally brighter and I feel I am more alert than usual.

Do your own research but this is where I bought mine << Grounding Sheet Info & Links >>

However you do it – it seems like grounding does have significant health benefits, and I for one and on board.
Anything I can do to stay well and boost my immune system at the moment is a winner.
